سيناتور أميركي يتهم "البنتاغون" بالتستر عن الأضرار التي ألحقتها إيران بالقواعد الأميركية

اتهم السيناتور الديمقراطي عن ولاية كونيتيكت، كريس مورفي، إدارة ترامب و"البنتاغون" بالانخراط في محاولة تستر واضحة لإخفاء حجم الأضرار الحقيقية التي لحقت بالقواعد العسكرية الأميركية في "الشرق الأوسط" من جراء الاستهدافات الإيرانية هذا العام، وفق صحيفة "واشنطن تايمز" الأميركية.

وقال مورفي، الذي عاد مؤخراً من جولة سياسية في منطقة الخليج شملت قطر والسعودية في تشرين الأول/أكتوبر الجاري، إنه مُنع شخصياً من دخول المنشآت العسكرية في قطر التي تعرّضت لاستهدافات إيرانية في وقت سابق من هذا العام، طالباً من وزارة الحرب الأميركية "البنتاغون" توضيح التأثير الحقيقي للاستهدافات.

وأضاف مورفي، خلال فعّالية استضافها مركز الأبحاث "معهد الشرق الأوسط" في واشنطن: "هذا مجرّد تستر واضح للغاية. إنّهم لا يريدون أن يفهم الشعب الأميركي الضرر الذي لحق بهذه القواعد، ولا يريدون أن تتاح الفرصة لأعضاء الكونغرس للتحدّث مباشرة مع قيادتنا العسكرية وقواتنا في المنطقة"، مشدّداً على أنّ القيادة العسكرية الإقليمية والأفراد العسكريين عادة ما يكونون المصادر الأكثر قيمة لـ "الحقيقة المجرّدة" فيما يتعلق بالوضع الميداني على الأرض.

وكان مورفي قد التقى خلال زيارته بمسؤولين عسكريين أميركيين في المنطقة ومسؤولين سياسيين من قطر والسعودية، ونشر خلال الجولة مقطع فيديو انتشر على نطاق واسع أكد فيه منعه من دخول قاعدة "العديد" الجوية بالكامل، معرباً عن شعوره بأنّ "البنتاغون" يحاول تعمّد إخفاء حجم الأضرار الحقيقية التي لحقت بالقاعدة.

وفي وقت سابق، كشفت شبكة "أن بي سي" الأميركية، نقلاً عن 6 مصادر مطلعة، عن أضرار بمليارات الدولارات للأصول والقواعد العسكرية الأميركية في منطقة الخليج، في أثر الضربات الإيرانية.
